Spotlight New Release Interview | SCENT OF BETRAYAL by Denise Carbo
Please make welcome a sister Rose (The Wild Rose Press), Denise Carbo! I'm always thrilled to host another sister (or brother) from my publishing house. She's hear to talk about her new release, Scent of Betrayal. The Tavern is serving chips with a spicy salsa, and lemonade. So get comfy and let's hear what Denise has to say...
MM: Welcome Denise! Congratulations on your new release! As my readers know, I'm curious as to how other writers work. So, describe a typical writing day. Are you a morning, afternoon, or night-owl writer?
DC: I’m a morning person. My day starts at 5:00 am with yoga. Once I get the kids off to school around 8:00, I go through emails and social media and then work on my WIP until 2:30 pm when the first of my kids comes home. I try to take care of any promo or other writing business before my youngest gets off the bus at 4:00pm. Then it’s time to focus on family. Unless the story can’t wait or a deadline looms, then it’s beg and plead for every moment of uninterrupted writing time.
MM: Sounds like you are organized and disciplined, Denise. Can you tell us about your current work-in-progress?
DC: My current WIP is Legacy of Destruction, the second in my witch series and the sequel to Legacy of Magic.
MM: (Clapping hands in glee) I love series! What inspired you to write this book/series?
DC: I wanted to put a twist on the standard shifter book, my shifters are aliens.
MM: Fantastic! What’s your favorite item on your writing desk?
DC: Probably my bookmarks with each book depicted on them. It gives me a little thrill each time.
MM: As they should, Denise! You’ve been given a golden ticket to time travel into the past. Whom would you meet and why?
DC: Interesting question. Instead of a famous person, I would probably choose my maternal grandfather, Dragoslav. He died when I was three so I never got a chance to know him. He led a fascinating life as a diplomat and working for the United Nations.
MM: How wonderful and a perfect choice. Now for some fun questions. Do you prefer...
Champagne or Beer? Neither I’m afraid. I never acquired a taste for alcohol.
Southern drawl or Scottish burr? Scottish burr, of course!
Kilt or Leather pants? Kilt, I prefer the mystery.
First romance you read? Defy Not the Heart by Johanna Lindsey
Print book or e-reader? Both, but nothing beats holding the actual book in my hands.
Wishing you all the best with Scent of Betrayal, Denise!
Backcover blurb for Scent of Betrayal
Wolf shifter, Davis Campbell is on a mission. His job is to babysit a woman from a rival clan. He believes all he has to do is get her back to Scotland. What he doesn't figure on is her possibly being his mate.
Bethany Leitner, an owl shifter, has been betrayed, attacked, framed, and left for dead. Trust in herself and others is hard to find. So when her self-appointed guardian begins to bark orders, she is ready to show her talons.

Davis snorted. “Yeah, well, the little peacemaker tried to get rid of me when I didn’t kowtow to Aaron and the advisor. I don’t think she fully realizes the precarious position she and her clan are in right now.”
“On the contrary, I am quite aware, which is why I don’t see the need to make the matter worse by antagonizing everyone around me.”
Davis slowly swiveled his head to meet Bethany’s glare. She stood in the open doorway to the bathroom with her arms wrapped tightly around her waist. Her dark gaze pinned on him. She’d changed into a blue dress. It accentuated her tiny waist, skimming just below her knees, allowing him an appreciative view of her trim legs. Her pursed lips only accentuated the pink little bow of her mouth. He couldn’t help but imagine what it might be like to grab a taste.
An amused chuckle sounded in his ear. “She doesn’t sound very happy with you, Davis. Are you sure you want to stay?”
“Yeah, I’m sure.”
